What are threads?
Threads are made of similar material as surgical sutures which are used to close wounds. The material is PDO (Polydioxanone) and has been used for many years. Mint stands for: Minimally Invasive Non-Surgical thread lift. Coming from South Korea, a hot spot for advances in non-surgical techniques, MINT threads are fairly new to Australia and are renowned for their excellent lifting capacity. They are currently the strongest thread on the market.
Where are they used?
They are used mainly on the face but can be used anywhere there is sagging skin including the neck décolletage, buttocks and abdomen.
How do they work?
Each thread has many tiny hooks which can strongly anchor to the tissue just under the skin. With a little tension these barbs engage and help lift sagging skin. Over approximately 6-9 months the
body absorbs the thread and new collagen forms in it’s place.
Furthermore, skin texture, elasticity and fine lines are also improved.
The procedure usually takes less than an hour and is done under local anaesthetic with little discomfort. You can expect swelling, possible bruising and tightness for a few days to a week after treatment. This a very safe procedure with very few side effects.
